Having already edited and coloured videos for Australian Dance Theatre and Slingsby Theatre Company for Closer Productions I was familiar with their proclivity for a stripped back aesthetic. It was a challenge for me as my artistic sensibility is to deploy colour as a component of the storytelling process. Closer Productions are famed for their focus on immersing the spectator in the narrative content, which for me meant having to locate that balance between colouring the picture without drawing attention to the artifice of the image or the divergent cameras in use. Specifically, I had to design within a low contrast, low saturation range while impressing upon the picture the sense of balance, form and continuity.
